South Lake Worth Inlet & Ocean Inlet Park
Between the towns of Manalapan and Ocean Ridge connecting the Atlantic Ocean with Lake Worth Lagoon Estuary
Palm Beach County manages the South Lake Worth Inlet (Boynton Inlet) by removing sand (dredging) from the inlet's sand trap and placing it along the beach south of the Inlet every six years. In addition, the County operates the Inlet’s sand transfer plant which moves (bypasses) sand to beaches located south of the Inlet as needed throughout the year.
Current Project
Dredge Project 2025
From February - April, a cutterhead dredge removed more than 55,000 cubic yards of sand from the interior inlet sand trap and from the navigation channels west of the inlet. The sand and water mixture was then moved east underneath A1A and along the beach below the low tide line at Ocean Hammock Park to the south.
