Water Utilities Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

Body

The Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department (PBC WUD) has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States (GFOA) for its 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

The 2016 honor marked the 20th straight year that the PBC WUD Finance and Administration team garnered the award. For the past twelve years, the team has been overseen by Assistant Director Debra West, whose tutelage has led to the report increasing in stature, appearance and length.

The 2016 report measured 106 pages and was compiled by Fiscal Manager Guy Eggertsson and Financial Analysts Lee Lemos, John Flynn and Joe Armiento.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The attainment of the Certificate of Achievement represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. Submissions are judged by an impartial panel and must meet high standards for demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
