In 2021, Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department (PBCWUD) became North America's first water utility to achieve ISO 55001 certification for its asset management system. ISO 55001 is an asset management standard by which organizations manage the lifecycle of assets. It assures regulators, customers, and stakeholders that costs, opportunities, and risks are managed effectively over each asset's life.
PBCWUD is proud to share our first technical paper on asset management, "Implementing People-Led Asset Management Using ISO 55001." This technical paper aims to present the experiences and lessons learned that transformed PBCWUD culture. Details of the report include ending communication silos, focusing on continuous improvement, and moving toward a performance-driven culture.
