Body

The Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department (PBCWUD) earned three awards at the annual Florida Water Environmental Association (FWEA) awards banquet, held virtually on Tuesday.

Regulatory Compliance Specialist Stephen Brown was recognized with the Albert B. Herndon Award, which recognizes individuals who have excelled in ensuring that industrial discharges to a public wastewater system meet or exceed federal and state pretreatment guidelines. Brown serves as the Pretreatment Program Coordinator for PBCWUD and is a member of a team that provides technical and regulatory assistance to local businesses.

Additionally, PBCWUD earned honorable mention Earle B. Phelps Awards, which recognizes wastewater treatment facilities which have maintained the highest removal of pollution constituents prior to discharge of treated effluent, for both the Western Region Wastewater Treatment Facility in Belle Glade and the Western Region North Wastewater Treatment Facility in Pahokee.

“We are honored to receive these awards from the Florida Water Environmental Association, which are a testament to our belief in adhering to “The Best Environmental Stewardship," said WUD Director Ali Bayat
