The installation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure in the eastern service area began in late September and will continue through the end of 2019. This project will provide state-of-the-art equipment to the entirety of the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department service area, as the work in the western system has already been completed.

The current work underway involves installing smart meters to nearly 160,000 accounts. The upgrade in equipment will provide improved meter reads and billing accuracy as well water usage data in real time. Better detection of leaks and other issues, which will lead to faster response time, is also a benefit.

The installation work is being performed by a Palm Beach County-approved vendor, Core & Main. All contractors have undergone a background check and will be identified by their county-issued badge. Contractors should not need to enter your home at any point during the installation process.
