County-provided water meets or exceeds all Federal and State requirements​
The Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department issued its 2016 Annual Water Quality Report at the beginning of July 2017 to keep our customers informed of water quality under the guidelines of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act (1974).

The report highlighted that the Department met or exceeded all Federal and State requirements concerning contaminants service area-wide for the preceding year.

The Department supplies drinking water to the central and south-central unincorporated areas of the county as well as the western communities of Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay, drawing the water from two underground aquifers. The Biscayne Aquifer serves customers in the eastern part of the county and the Floridan Aquifer is the water source for customers in the western region. The sourced water is treated through a stringent filtration process that reduces the amount of naturally occurring elements found in the water while also removing undesirable microbes. Following this state-of-the-art process, high-quality drinking water is provided to the more than 550,000 residents served by the County Water Utilities Department around the clock; 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Annual Water Quality Report is designed to inform our customers about the quality of drinking water distributed by the Water Utilities Department and lists the levels of any remaining contaminants found during routine sampling. The Water Utilities Department produces two reports, one concerning the service area that provides drinking water for the central and south-central unincorporated regions of the County as well as a second report, which contains information for the system servicing Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay.

Water testing is a continuous process for the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department and our on-site laboratory staff have achieved National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference certification (NELAC). With over 80,000 water quality tests conducted annually, our Department makes water quality our highest priority.
