Field Permitting - A permit is required for use of a field for organized group play or for groups larger than 5 individuals.

Daily Field Permits: Reserved Usage for Group of Individuals (25 or fewer individuals) Intended for advanced reservations by the public for rental of an adult baseball field, adult softball field, multipurpose field, or open field space. Field rentals are available for non-organized recreational play by private parties or gatherings.
Only one field may be rented per permit. Maximum number of participants for a daily field permit is 25 total people. Reservations can be made up to four (4) weeks in advance and is limited to a maximum of three (3) dates within a four (4) week period. Applications may be received and processed Monday through Friday. Applications received on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays will not be processed until the next business day. Please allow five (5) days for approval and permitting. Rental requests for fields that are less than five (5) days from date of interest, must be made in person at the John Prince Park office. The last day to request or rent fields for a weekend/holiday date in person is the Thursday prior to that date. Daily field rental fees are $25.00 per hour (plus tax) with a minimum of two (2) hours and maximum of three (3) hours. Upon approval, the renter will be notified to remit payment online if payment is not provided with application. Rental of the field is for the use of that field or space only and does not guarantee availability or access to other amenities. Use of the field MUST be sport/activity appropriate (Example: soccer and football are NOT permitted on baseball/softball fields). All activities must NOT disturb other park patrons or surrounding community. The renter must keep a copy of the permit on their person to present upon request to the Park Rangers for verification. Prohibited: use of goals and/or other equipment staked or affixed in the ground (only pop up goals or cones allowed), alcohol and tobacco products, amplified sound, retail operations, cooking/giving away food and beverages, pets, bicycles/scooters/skateboards, golfing, large organized group play, official games with uniforms/scorekeeping/referees. Due to State Statutes and screening requirements, youth teams and/or programs are not eligible to rent daily field permits and MUST obtain permitting through the Sports and Wellness Section (Contact 561-966-7033). Activities such as private training, fundraisers, league play, tournaments, or official games with uniforms, scorekeeping, or referees are not eligible for daily field permits. Contact the Sports and Wellness Section (561-966-7033) to obtain the necessary permits.
Property damage, non-routine maintenance, failure to follow park rules & regulations, failure to provide accurate information including; attendance, use of vendors and additional need for crowd control are examples that may incur penalty fees, withholding of security deposit, loss of rental privileges and/or cancellation of activity. Permitted use of a county field is intended solely for the applicant on file and as such cannot be transferred or sublet to any other entity. Failure to comply will result in loss of future field use.
Daily Field Permitting Availability - Available for select fields and based on current availability. Please contact the office for availability.
- Available weekdays from 3:30 pm to sunset, weekend and holidays 8:00 am to sunset.
- Available with lights at the Okeeheelee Softball Complex, Burt Aaronson South County Regional Softball Complex, and Samuel Friedland Multipurpose Fields ONLY (sunset to 10:00 pm), please contact the office for availability.
- Available locations: Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park (4 adult softball fields), Caloosa Park (2 adult softball fields), Duncan Padgett Park (2 adult softball fields) Dyer Park (1 adult baseball and 1 adult softball field), Glades Pioneer Park (2 adult softball fields), John Prince Memorial Park (2 adult softball fields, 1 cricket field, and 1 open field space), John Stretch Park (1 cricket field), Lake Lytal Park (1 multipurpose field), Loxahatchee Groves Park (1 open field space), Okeeheelee Park (4 adult softball fields) and Samuel Friedland Park (1 adult softball field, 3 multipurpose fields).
Daily Field Permitting Fees - Adult Ballfield Rental (Baseball or Softball)
- $25.00 (plus tax) hourly field rental rate - 2-hour minimum and 3-hour maximum
- Adult Ballfield Rental when renting a pavilion
- $50.00 (plus tax) hourly field rental rate - up to 4-hours, during the permitted time of the associated pavilion rental (Fees are in addition to pavilion rental fees)
- Multipurpose Field Rental
- $25.00 (plus tax) hourly field rental rate - 2-hour minimum and 3-hour maximum
- Open Field Space Rental (not maintained to the same standard level as an athletic field)
- $25.00 (plus tax) hourly field rental rate - 2-hour minimum and 3-hour maximum
- Cricket Field Rental
- $25.00 (plus tax) hourly field rental rate - 2-hour minimum and 3-hour maximum
Organized Sports Permits: Reserved Usage for Sports and Wellness Activity - Intended for organized teams/groups/coaches/instructors for official practices and games, league and tournament play, camps, clinics, private training, fundraisers and other related programs and activities for all ages and abilities.
- Organized activity is considered groups of two or more individuals functioning within a formal structure where there is coordination and direction of activities, and/or one or more of the following criteria is occurring: exchange of money for participation, official teams or class rosters exist, there is an affiliation with an official governing body or entity (Sport Provider, league, business, sanctioning body, etc.), official schedule of activities/practices/games, detailed or formal training regimen participants are required to follow, or a coach/trainer/teacher/instructor is facilitating activities.
- Permit requests must be submitted a minimum of three (3) months in advance of the requested start date and approval from the County must be obtained prior to advertising any activity on County property.
- Permit eligibility is determined by the requesting group’s ability to comply with specific standards including but not limited to insurance requirements, Florida Statute screening requirements, and corporation requirements.
- Permit approval for these types of activities is contingent upon availability, Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department’s Priority of Facility Use Policy, and carrying capacity of fields/facilities such as field integrity considerations.

Special Event Permits: Reserved Usage for Large Gatherings and Events - Intended for large organized social and fundraising events open to the general public.
- Your event qualifies as a special event if you, or your organization are planning an activity which involves one, or more, of the following: fundraising, advertising as open to the public, admission fee, ticket exchange or donation, alcohol sales, sale of food/merchandise/other items, band, amplifiers, DJ, or PA system in non-designated areas, attendance exceeding the capacity of the reserved area.
- Permit requests must be submitted a minimum of six (6) months in advance of the requested event date and requires a three hundred ($300) booking fee and tax exempt certificate (if applicable).
- Permitted use of a county field is intended solely for the applicant on file and as such cannot be transferred or sublet to any other entity. Failure to comply will result in loss of future field use.

Small Group Usage Small, unorganized groups of approximately five or fewer individuals, as well as individual families, are welcome to use our park spaces without the need for a permit. However, organized groups, larger gatherings, and activities requiring use of portable goals and/or other equipment must obtain a permit prior to using the space.
Please note that even if you do not require a permit, the use of the park space is subject to availability. If an area is already permitted by another group or is temporarily closed due to weather conditions, maintenance, or other necessary reasons, access to the space may be restricted.
Park patrons must not charge fees to participate or exclude any other members of the public who want to participate, and must ensure others park patrons have an appropriate amount of space to conduct activities themselves.
Prohibited during use without a permit: alcohol and tobacco products, amplified sound, retail operations, cooking/giving away food and beverages, pets, bicycles/scooters/skateboards, golfing, official games with uniforms, scorekeeping, or referees.
Additionally, all activities conducted within the park must not cause a disturbance to other park patrons or the surrounding community.
