Group Swim Lesson Information and Levels

LEVEL and INFORMATION
  • Parent & Tot (6 months to 2.9 years old): This class is designed to introduce infants to the water. A parent or guardian is required to accompany the infant in the water and participate in the class.
  • Pre-Level 1 (3 to 5 years old): Participants will learn to blow bubbles, become water friendly, and start to learn the basics of front and back crawl.
  • Level 1 (6 to 12 years old): Participants will learn to blow bubbles, become water friendly, and start to learn the basics of front and back crawl.
  • Pre-Level 2 (3 to 5 years old): Participants will learn float, begin to combine arm & leg actions for back and front crawl, and be introduced to deep water.
  • Level 2 (6 to 12 years old ): Participants will learn float, begin to combine arm & leg actions for back and front crawl, and be introduced to deep water.
  • Level 3 (6 to 12 years old): Participants will learn elementary backstroke, how to tread water, deep water exploration, and will be introduced to water safety skills.
  • Level 4 (6 to 12 years old): Participants will focus on additional stroke technique, such as breaststroke and sidestroke, and begin to build more endurance. *North County Aquatic Center and Aqua Crest Pool ONLY*
  • Adult (13 years old & above): This class is designed to accommodate different skill levels of participants. The class can cover anything from technique to just being comfortable in the water.
PRE-REQUISITES FOR EACH LEVEL
  • ​Level 2: Blow bubbles with face in the water, back float for 5 seconds, swim 5 yards.
  • Level 3: Back float 15 seconds, swim 15 yards using both arms and legs together, and tread in deep water for one minute.
  • Level 4: Swim 25 yards with rotary breathing, 25 yards backstroke, and tread in deep water for one minute.

Instructions for Online Swim Lesson Registration
1. Hover over the Online Services tab at the top of the screen until a drop down menu appears and then click on Register/Pay for a Program
2. Click Login located on the upper right area of the page
3. Enter your login information
  • ​a. New users must create an account
  • ​​b. Add additional family members by clicking the Add Member button at the bottom of the page. If this step is skipped, additional family members can only be added at the facility
4. Once logged in, select Find a Pool or Waterpark
5. Select the desired facility in the location area of the Area Search Criteria
6. Select the program you would like to pay by clicking the plus sign
7. Add item to the cart, select the participant and click continue. 9. Continue to payment. DPC voucher holders must register for classes in person

Swim Lesson Schedule

SPRING
Swim lesson sessions consist of eight 30-minute classes. Cost is $60 per session. Private lessons are also available on a limited basis, and cost $130 for eight 20-minute lessons, or four 40-minute lessons. All classes are Tuesdays & Thursdays, or Wednesdays and Fridays. 

Session 1A: 
Registration opens online and in person on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Classes begin Tuesday, March 3 or Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Class times are 4-4:30pm, 4:30-5pm, 5-5:30pm, and 5:30-6pm. Lessons end the week of Friday, March 27, 2026.

Session 2A:
Registration opens online and in person on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Classes begin Tuesday, March 31 or Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Class times are 4-4:30pm, 4:30-5pm, 5-5:30pm, and 5:30-6pm. Lessons end the week of Friday, April 24, 2026.

Sessions 3A:
Registration opens online and in person on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Classes begin Tuesday, March 31 or Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Class times are 4-4:30pm, 4:30-5pm, 5-5:30pm, and 5:30-6pm Lessons end the week of Friday, May 23, 2026.
