182nd Anniversary Annual Seminole Maroon Spiritual Remembrance of the Two Battles of the Loxahatchee

This event highlights the little-known history of the allied Native and African American Seminole Maroons and their bravery during the Seminole Wars, and features rituals/ceremonies, lectures, exhibitors, vendors and more. Presented by the Florida Black Historical Research Project, Inc. in cooperation with the Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists. 182nd Anniversary Battle of the Loxahatchee- Annual Reenactment
Saturday, January 25, 2020, 9:00 a.m.
Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park (adjacent to Riverbend Park)
Come watch history unfold in front of your eyes as reenactors take part in a re-creation of the last great battle of the Second Seminole War that happened at Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park on January 24, 1838. To give visitors a close-up look at the events that transpired and their historical significance, there will be guest speakers, exhibitors, weapons demonstrations and battlefield tours provided by the Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists. It all starts at 9:00 a.m. with the reenactment taking place at 2:00 p.m.
