Reservations are required for ALL programs (unless otherwise noted). All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form before each program.

Activities promote environmental awareness, conservation, recreation and educate on health and wellness in the community.

NOTICE: Effective October 1, 2025, all payments made with a credit or debit card (online or in-person) will incur a 3.0% service fee. This fee is assessed and collected by the credit card processor, not by Palm Beach County. No service fee will be assessed on payments made by check or cash. Service fees are non-refundable.

SCIENCE FOR SENIORS - PREDATORS IN PARADISE: UNRAVELING THE PYTHON'S GRIP ON WILD FLORIDA

Discover the real story behind Florida’s Burmese python crisis in this eye-opening presentation. Follow a python hunter’s journey into the Everglades, learn how these giant snakes took hold and explore the ongoing efforts to track, humanely remove and protect native wildlife from one of the state’s most notorious invaders. Guest presenter: Kym Clark, Python Hunter & Conservationist

BIRD TALK & TOUR: WETLAND BIRDS

Start the day off with a Florida bird presentation followed by a one-hour birding tour with one of our naturalists. Bring binoculars and your field guide if you have them.

ARCHERY 101
Saturday, February 21, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required, limit 12)
Join a USA Archery Certified Instructor to learn the basics of archery and develop a fun new skill! This 1.5-hour program will start with a demonstration followed by target practice! All equipment provided, please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water and sun protection as it takes place outdoors.

Ever wondered what it would be like to be an animal keeper? Work behind the scenes with animal care staff and volunteers to find out. It can be a dirty job but the most rewarding!

Wednesday, February 25, 6:00 p.m.
Ages 9+, $5/participant (Reservations required, limit 20)
Join a naturalist on a nighttime boardwalk tour looking at nature from the point of view of its nocturnal residents. Flashlights are recommended but not required.

SCIENCE FOR SENIORS - SMALL STEPS, BIG IMPACT: NATURE INSPIRED LANDSCAPING
Friday, February 27, 1:00 p.m.
Ages 50+, $5/participant (Reservations required, limit 60)
Using nature as our guide, we will explore simple ways to transform our landscapes into a thriving habitat for butterflies, pollinators and birds. What we plant matters more to wildlife than the size of our gardens — from a pot to a patch to a large-scale garden, it all matters and it all has an impact. Guest presenter: CJ McCartney, Master Gardener-in-residence at Ann Norton

A special viewing of Tracking Kites, a documentary about Swallow-tailed Kites, their epic migration, and the local science helping us better understand and conserve this “forgotten bird.” The event will include an introduction, behind-the-scenes commentary and insights into the film. Guest presenter: Benji Studt, PBC ERM Environmental Program Supervisor

SCIENCE FOR SENIORS - CORAL IN CRISIS

Coral reefs are some of the oldest and most diverse ecosystems on Earth.  But corals, the ancient animals that make up these reefs, are threatened by various types of pollution. Join me for a talk about the threats corals face and what we can do to conserve them. Guest presenter: Emily Rademacher, Green Cay Assistant Naturalist

Become a nature detective by sharpening your senses and uncovering nature’s hidden secrets in this interactive indoor and outdoor experience. Explore how butterflies use camouflage and mimicry to survive, enjoy hands-on sensory activities with plants and finish with a guided walk through our native Butterfly Garden to observe pollinators in action. Guest presenters: Ron Seifer, Green Cay Docent & Nancy Feldman-Saylor, Butterfly Gardener
