FDO wants to take this opportunity to let its contractors, construction managers and consultants know that FDO highly values all of its partners in the design and construction industry, and as partners you are critical to the delivery of essential services. The County is open without any additional access restrictions to your contracted work site. The County is expecting that you will continue to perform contracted services in accordance with the terms of your contract or purchase order. FDO project management staff are working and available to answer questions that may arise.
About Us
Capital Improvements Division (CID) is responsible for managing the design and construction of facilities within Palm Beach County except for Airports, Roadways, ERM and Water Utilities projects which have their own departments.
Our typical projects include parks, Sheriff's facilities, fire stations, libraries, general government offices, etc. The
Convention Center project was managed by CID. We use outside consultants for all of our design work. Our projects use the traditional design-bid-build method, Job Order Contracting, annual contractors and
CM@Risk is considered on larger, complex projects.
Each project is assigned a Project Manager who handles the project from consultant selection, through design, and construction.
In the past 4 years, CID has awarded over $150,000,000 in construction contracts and over $16,000,000 in consultant fees.
Mission Statement
To provide
project management services for a wide variety of projects by the management of contracted professional services for the programming, design, and construction of new buildings and related facilities and the expansion or improvement of existing facilities.
What Do We Do?
- Procurement and administration of architectural and engineering services
- Serve as liaison to user agencies for our design consultants and construction contracts
- Administer bids and other procurement activities for capital projects as well as repair, replacement and renovation projects
- Administer capital project construction activity
CID also provides non-construction (maintenance) related procurement to the Operations Divisions of Facilities Development & Operations (FDO), Facilities Management Division (FMD), Electronic Services & Security (ESS) and Departments external to FDO.
To accomplish this, the CID Division administers the following contracts:
- Demolition
- Electrical
- Flooring
- Minor Construction
- HVAC
- Low Voltage
- Asbestos Abatement
- Roofing
In order to bid work under these contracts, a contractor must be pre-qualified with Capital Improvements in the specialty field of the work. Qualified contractors may submit qualification packages at any time and be added to the list up to three times per year. To request a qualification package, email
