TO REGISTER and MAKE PAYMENT for PROGRAMS:
Online - Select the “Online Services” tab at the top of this page and click on Register/Pay for Program; Login with your username and password. (New users must create a household account online-please follow online instructions)

In Person - Visit the nature center during operating hours.

DAILY ANIMAL FEEDINGS

  • Daily when the nature center is open, 3:15-3:30 p.m.
    Families / All Ages, FREE (Reservations NOT Required)
    3:15pm is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about a specific animal and then watch while they are fed.
    • Wednesday – Opossum
    • Thursday – Snake
    • Friday – Owl
    • Saturday - Alligator

OCTOBER
  • MOTHER NATURE & ME: WILD WEBS
    Tuesday, October 1, 10:30 a.m.
    Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
    Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!​
     
  • RADICAL REPTILES
    Saturday, October 5, 10:30 a.m.
    Ages 5+, $3/participant (Reservations required)
    Join a naturalist for a family friendly program focusing on the amazing world of reptiles! Learn about these diverse scaly creatures and meet some resident reptiles up close and personal.​
     
  • DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: SNAKES
    Tuesday, October 8, 3:30 p.m.
    Ages 8+, FREE (Reservations required)
    Enjoy a special program featuring a visit from the nature center’s resident animal ambassadors, at the Glades Road Branch Library! Call the Glades Road Branch Library for details and RSVP at (561) 482-4554.

     
  • ANIMAL KEEPER FOR A DAY
    Wednesday, October 9, 10:00 a.m.
    Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
    Animal keepers have the coolest job! Work behind the scenes with animal care staff and volunteers to feed diets, clean exhibits, and provide enrichments to the animals at the nature center. Learn what it takes to care for these special animal ambassadors.

     
  • MOTHER NATURE & ME: NIGHT CREATURES
    Tuesday, October 15, 10:30 a.m.
    Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
    Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

     
  • SPECIAL EVENT: HOOT ‘N’ HOWL
    Friday, October 25, 6:00 p.m.
    All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
    Bring the kids in costume and enjoy not-so-scary Halloween games and crafts* while learning about nocturnal creatures such as owls, toads, snakes and spiders! *While supplies last.

  • MOTHER NATURE & ME: BACKYARD BIRDS
    Tuesday, November 5, 10:30 a.m.
    Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
    Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!
     
  • DIP NETTING
    Friday, November 8, 10:00 a.m.
    Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
    Find out what creatures naturally live in the water of our wetlands! Collect tiny pond animals outside and then observe those findings using magnifying glasses and microscopes inside. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection, and closed-toed shoes that can get wet/muddy.
     
  • FISHING FUN
    Saturday, November 9, 10:30 a.m.
    Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
    Learn the basics of freshwater fishing! Class includes fishing pole basics, casting tips, and freshwater fish identification. All fishing supplies are provided. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection, and closed-toed shoes that can get wet/muddy.​

    Learn all about snakes from a naturalist including how to identify the most common snakes found in southern Florida. After, meet some of the nature center’s slithering residents up close!​
