Planning Community Involvement

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

CERT logo

CERT is a community based organization of residents who learn how to take emergency response actions in safe ways until the professional emergency responders can respond. In Palm Beach County, CERT is operated out of many of the community neighborhoods and HOA’s. Each team works together to prepare for and respond to emergencies when call on.

In the aftermath of a major disaster such as a hurricane, emergency crews are quickly overwhelmed, causing delays of hours or even days. For these reasons, Palm Beach County Emergency Management offers the Community Emergency Response Team training course. The basic training course consists of 24 hours of training.

Training is at NO COST to YOU, the volunteer, and you receive the equipment you will need to help your community!
