Super Bowl 2020 Information
South Florida will be host to the Super Bowl on February 2, 2020. In an effort to ensure that adequate "for hire" transportation services exist throughout the Southeast Florida region and to create streamlined permitted process while preserving public safety provisions during special events, the Board of County Commissioners approved an amendment to the Vehicle for Hire Ordinance on December 17, 2019. The ordinance amendment allows for reciprocity within the Southeast Florida area (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties) during special event periods, excluding ports, for vehicle for hire companies operating sedans, limousines, vans, and sport utility vehicles and have either a special event decal or valid annual decal with airport privileges issued by one of these counties.
Vehicle for Hire Companies with a valid operating permit are able to expand their fleet of sedans, limousines, vans, and sport utility vehicles by purchasing a special event decal from the Consumer Affairs Office. A completed Special Event Decal Application, $100 application fee, insurance coverage as prescribed by ordinance, and registration and/or rental agreement are needed to process the special event decal request. The Special Event Decal will be valid from January 26 – February 9, 2020 and will be recognized by Broward and Miami-Dade Counties as valid.
Palm Beach County taxis with a valid annual decal are able to pick up and drop off from Hard Rock Stadium on the day of the Super Bowl, February 2, 2020. No additional permits are required.
