Palm Beach County celebrated Park Rx Day today, with the Board of County Commissioners proclaiming Saturday, April 25, 2026, as a day dedicated to promoting nature-based wellness and the benefits of spending time in local parks.
The proclamation, sponsored by Vice Mayor Marci Woodward, highlights how Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation is connecting healthcare providers with local parks to encourage residents to take a “dose of nature,” a proven way to improve physical health, reduce stress, enhance mental well-being, and strengthen community connections. This effort supports the department’s Park Rx initiative and its free interactive booklet, Prescription for Healthy, Happy Living, which helps residents make the most of county parks and amenities to support healthy lifestyles.
Following the proclamation, representatives from HealthyMe, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County (HCD), the FAU Westgate/UBK Health Centers Community Health/Northwest Community Health Alliance and Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation staff gathered for a group photo with Vice Mayor Woodward holding the proclamation, symbolizing the county’s commitment to accessible parks and wellness opportunities. “Spending time in our parks is not only enjoyable but also a necessary prescription for health,” said Jennifer Cirillo, Director of Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation. “Park Rx Day encourages everyone to take advantage of our green and blue spaces to improve their physical and mental health.”
The department encourages residents to celebrate Park Rx Day on April 25 by exploring local parks and getting active outdoors. The
Prescription for Healthy, Happy Living booklet, available at select park and healthcare locations, can be accessed on the department’s website at
