Landscape
Landscape encircles the Center’s entrance lobby with the idyllic, quiet beauty of an untouched Florida. Encouraging a sense of wellbeing for the Center’s clients, Landscape offers placid comfort with its gentle colors and delicate composition, nurturing stress relief. The water’s still surface mirrors the familiar, with nature’s soothing silhouettes beckoning us toward the vast horizon. Initial photographs were taken by Ava during her many Florida adventures, often from kayaks and canoes. She used painting, printmaking, and digital techniques to manipulate her imagery, and then reprinted them to create these wallpaper prints. Interacting with the architecture, the blue light from the clerestory windows also extends the sense of ‘sky’ in the printed landscapes.

Symbolizing the passage of time, the design reflects changes in light from day to night. Each wall in the design corresponds to its East, North, South, and Western orientation. There is a cool early morning light in the East where the sun rises, the bluish color of Northern light, warm, crisp, and bright colors in the South, and gold and oranges in the West where the sun sets.

Aquarium
Aquarium surrounds the Center’s clients with soothing, magical, dreamy images; one dissolving into another conveying a mesmerizing sense of movement that subtly guides viewers around the waterscape. Each fish emanates vibrant personality with their and dynamic colors and patterns. A constellation of focal points in the serene environment, Aquarium’s multifaceted details invite gradual discovery over time. The underwater scene - a photic snapshot of tranquility - prompts a sense of mystery, delight, and adventure.

Initial underwater photographs were taken by Ava during her snorkeling and canoeing adventures in Florida and the Caribbean. She then used painting, printmaking, and digital techniques to manipulate her imagery, and reprinted them to create these wallpaper prints. Interacting with the architecture, the blue light from the clerestory windows extends the sense of water in which the fish, and the viewer, can swim and explore.
