This collaborative art project transformed blank plywood into a colorful community self-portrait. From concept to creation, teaching artist Sharon Koskoff’s unique interactive and educational approach engaged teens and adult community members in every step of the process. Art lessons about painting, color, design and scale, as well as teamwork, group effort and local social history were central to the projects purpose, empowering participants to make a positive impact in their community through public art.
Mural designs feature diverse symbols with outlined bodies in animated poses and postures which reflect the wide range of interests and identities of the twenty Boys and Girls Clubs teen participants.
