Performs specialized professional
work coordinating climate resilience and sustainability initiatives
within the Office of Resilience. Serves as a subject matter expert to
County departments, municipalities and civic groups to advance Palm
Beach County's climate resilience and sustainability programs. Projects
might include electric vehicle charging infrastructure contract
support, Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact coordination,
Property Assessed Clean Energy program administration. Coordinates
with other County and municipal departments and community stakeholders
and delivers public presentations. Researches and writes memoranda and
agenda items; perform minor office administration duties. Receives
assignments in specific or general terms from a superior and is expected
to exercise independent judgment and initiative in developing work
methods. Work is performed under general supervision of an
administrative superior and is reviewed through conferences, written
reports and observations of results obtained.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's
Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Planning, Public
Policy, Business Administration, Climate Health, Real Estate
Development, Architecture, Engineering, the Physical or Natural
Sciences; minimum of three (3) years professional experience in one or
more of the following areas: sustainability, climate mitigation and
adaptation, policy development and implementation, program
administration, urban planning, public health, or community engagement.
Equivalencies: Related Master's Degree or Related Ph.D. may be substituted for one (1) year of related experience.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE WITH:
Public outreach/policy/administration; greenhouse gas emission
inventories; web content development; sustainability and climate
resiliency initiatives; grant proposals and/or database programs. Also
desirable: Knowledge of local government sustainability and climate
change adaptation and mitigation issues and opportunities.
