Position: STUDENT - PARAPROFESSIONAL (Intern)

Salary: $14.00 Per Hour

Department: Office Of Resilience

Hours: 40 Variable hours/week during the summer semester; may be required to attend evening and weekend
events.

Other: Ability to lift 40 pounds preferred.

THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.

No benefits are offered for student positions.

Assists the Office of Resilience staff with the implementation and monitoring of County climate change mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development efforts. Performs basic research and analysis. Creates content for outreach material, social media, newsletters, press releases, reports, and presentations. Participates in webinars/community outreach events and summarizes results. Performs general clerical/administrative work including scanning, copying, data entry and electronic file management. Assists with the planning/coordination of meetings/events. Strong organizational/communication skills and a working knowledge of computer software platforms such as Microsoft Office are vital. Candidate must have a demonstrated passion for climate change, sustainable development,environmental policy, public health and/or social equity.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a current student of an accredited schooling program, university/college.

PREFERENCE FOR: Experience using ArcGIS/Adobe Photoshop; experience using Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Mail Chimp; enrollment in a program with major course work in Climate Change/Sustainable Development/Environmental Policy or related course of study; strong written and communication skills; ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
