Body

Palm Beach County, on behalf of the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact, is looking forward to hosting the 13th Annual Climate Leadership Summit virtually on December 9 and 10, 2021. We are delighted to have esteemed keynote speakers including:

  • Brenda Mallory, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality;
  • Crystal Bergemann, Senior Advisor for Climate, Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development;
  • Shannon Estenoz, Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks, U.S. Department of the Interior; and
  • John Blevins, Acting Regional Director for Region 4, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Described by President Barack Obama as “a model not just for the country but for the world,” the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact (https://southeastfloridaclimatecompact.org) is a regional partnership of Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties that represents over six million residents and includes 109 municipalities. This unique, bipartisan partnership collaboratively responds to climate threats and increases community resilience through its thought leadership and coordinated action.

The Annual Summit is the Climate Compact’s flagship event and is expected to draw over 600 attendees including elected officials, government staff, and leaders from the business, non-profit, academic, and youth sectors. With the theme of “Seizing the Moment, Together,” the 13th Annual Summit will share success stories that highlight the need for ambitious, comprehensive, and equitable climate adaptation and mitigation action in South Florida.
