About Us
The Fire, Arson, and Explosive Investigations bureau reports directly to and works under the direction of the Fire Marshal's office. The mission is to methodically investigate and determine the origin and cause of fires and explosions through a systematic approach based upon sound principles obtained through education, teamwork and experience. The bureau is nationally accredited, board certified, and professionally qualified to provide expert witness testimony in both criminal and civil trials, hearings, and depositions.
The investigation bureau is comprised of a supervisor and five full-time fire/arson/explosive investigators with over 60-years of combined experience. Each investigator is a fully sworn law enforcement officer that has the authority to carry firearms, arrest perpetrators, and present arson based criminal cases for prosecution to the State Attorney's Office. They answer the call of 50 Palm Beach County Fire Rescue fire stations covering 1,769 square miles including all of unincorporated Palm Beach County and 19 municipalities - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year!
