2024 Annual ReportIntroductionThe Palm Beach County Firefighters Pipes and Drums (PBCFFPD) is Southeast Florida%u2019s oldest fire service pipe band. Established in September 2001, we have played for both public safety and civic events for twenty-three years. Our band is the Southernmost Public Safety Pipe and Drum band in the United States which all members are active or retired firefighters.MembershipAs of 2024, the band remains strong with dedicated members from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, West Palm Beach Fire Department, Delray Beach Fire Rescue, and several fire service retirees. Our bagpipers are led by Pipe Major John Flynn (retired Battalion Chief, PBCFR). The drum corps is led by Drum Sergeant Ed Peek (Captain, PBCFR). Band management continues under founding member Jon Ferguson (Driver/Operator, PBCFR).Throughout 2024, our Drum Sergeant and Pipe Major have focused on enhancing practices and assisting those who want to become members by offering free lessons. It is our goal to strengthen our pipeline of future members and ensure the long-term sustainability of the band.We welcomed back former Pipe Major and current bagpiper Lee Forshner (Retired Lieutenant, PBCFR) who had taken a leave but is once again a fully kilted and active memberof the band.48
