Directions: Jewell-Steinhardt Cove is located opposite of Bryant Park along the east side of Lake Worth Lagoon. From I-95 exit at 10th Ave. N. – head east to Federal Highway (U.S. Highway 1) – turn right and head south to Lake Ave – turn left and head east – you will cross over the bridge to Ocean Blvd. – turn right and head south on Ocean Blvd. for roughly 0.25 miles – volunteers are parking in a large grassy area along the west side of Ocean Blvd. – I will be standing along the roadway to direct everyone to the parking area
Additional Information: Volunteers should wear clothes that they do not mind getting wet and dirty. We are cleaning along the mangrove shoreline and interior sections of the restoration area. There will be a lot of crouching and climbing over things to get to some of the trash. There are also some rocky areas. Restroom facilities are not available at the site. The Department will supply tools, gloves, and refreshments for the volunteers. The parking area is relatively small. If we need to, we may be able to have some volunteers park at Bryant Park and then shuttle them over to Jewell Cove. Event participation is limited to the first 10 volunteers who register.
Registration:The Palm Beach County Department of Environmental Resources Management has four volunteer projects scheduled in June. The volunteer projects are designed for volunteers ages 16 and older. Volunteers 15 and under must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Volunteers can register for an ERM event by calling 561-233-2426 or emailing amathews@pbc.gov. Thanks for helping the Department keep Palm Beach County clean and green.
