​Future Leaders United for Change member, Michaela Thomas, 13, was invited to speak with the Democratic Women's Club of Florida at the Capitol building in Tallahassee on March 5. Michaela demonstrated her leadership skills and ability to engage her audience while discussing the motives behind why she's lobbying for equality. Invoking cheers among the crowd, "I'm a 13-year-old, I'm an African American, I'm a female, and I'm a lobbyist." It is clear that Michaela, who aspires to be a judge, is taking the necessary steps to ensure that not only her future is filled with equality, but also the future for those who have been impacted by inequality will be provided with equal rights, equal pay, and equal opportunity. Michaela, along with many other youth from Future Leaders recently participated in the Race to Equity Summit. Future Leaders is the voice of youth as part of the Birth to 22 Alliance.
