WEST PALM BEACH – Friends of Youth Services and Palm Beach County, Inc. has announced the 2023 Alyssa Sangeeta Jacobson Scholarship recipients. This year two recipients were named. The awarded scholarship provides $2,000.00 a year, distributed over two semesters to each recipient. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, depending on the degree or certificate program.

Following an online application process, finalists were selected based on application submission, letters of recommendation, and a written essay. Scholarship eligibility was limited to residents of Palm Beach County.

Congratulations to the 2023 Alyssa Sangeeta Jacobson Scholarship recipients:

Jasmine Akins is a graduate of Glades Central Community High School. She plans to attend Palm Beach State College and major in Psychology. Jasmine said, "Obtaining this scholarship means I will be able to go off to college and get the education I desire. This scholarship will give me the opportunity to open doors to success and achieve my goal of being an occupational therapist. This scholarship will give me the chance to make my mark in the world. The one thing I could say, it would give me the opportunity to spread kindness, educate others, and make Alyssa Jacobson and her family proud. When you have a dream, you've got to grab it and never let go."

Joseph Rudnick is currently enrolled at the University of Florida, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. Joseph said, "This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my college education, preparing myself the best I can for my future. I will be able to participate in my education more by having more time to study and get ahead for future courses, as well as being able to participate in clubs to gain experience to better prepare myself for my future career. I am a triplet, and my two sisters are also attending college, so there is a financial burden on my family to get us all through college. Receiving this scholarship helps relieve this burden from my family, and I am glad I can help. I still plan on getting a job during college to build up experience and money. Still, I am relieved knowing I have obtained help from the Alyssa Sangeeta Jacobson Scholarship."
