On June 16, The Highridge Family Center hosted a luau to celebrate the end of the school year and to thank staff for their hard work during this time of adversity. The luau was fun filled and action packed with a variety of games and decorations. The living room at Highridge was transformed into a luau party and the patio had outdoor field games.
Staff and residents played Giant Connect 4, Jumbo Jenga, Giant Checkers, Horse Shoes, Corn Hole, Ladder Ball and created seashell photo frames as souvenirs. Highridge also hosted several contests during the luau. Contest winners:
To round out the festivities, the dining staff coordinated a tropical themed meal consisting of Hawaiian meatballs and island corn served with pineapple rice. The following day, a water balloon contest was held, to finish out the luau activities.
“Thank you to all of the staff for the planning and attention to detail that took place to ensure the residents had a great time, complete with food, fun, and games," said Dr. Amanda Terrell, chief residential clinical services at Highridge Family Center. “The activities and décor brought a sense of spirit and fun to Highridge in celebrating the end of what has been a very challenging school year for our residents and families."
