What Is SART?

A Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is a group of community partners who work together to improve the response to sexual assault and support survivors.

SART may include victim advocates, law enforcement, forensic nurses, prosecutors, healthcare providers, and other community agencies.

How SART Helps

SART partners work together to:

  • Improve communication and coordination between agencies.
  • Promote trauma-informed, survivor-centered services.
  • Help survivors connect with support, medical care, advocacy, and other resources.
  • Identify gaps and improve services for survivors.
  • Provide training and education to professionals and the community.

SART is more than a response to an individual sexual assault. By bringing community partners together, SART can identify trends, strengthen protocols, improve professional practices, increase community awareness, and address systemic barriers affecting survivors.
