Purpose

The Palm Beach County School & Community Safety Initiative was established by the Criminal Justice Commission (CJC) at the Annual Planning meeting on February 26, 2018 in response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy. This initiative was created to work on the issues of coordination, reviewing recent legislation and other areas they deem necessary for local improvement. As a result of Sequential Intercept Mapping in September 2023 and the recommendations from the School and Community Safety Committee, the CJC determined the need to establish a Behavioral Health Task Force in 2024 to ensure a comprehensive review of the system.
