Whole Blood Transfusion
The Whole Blood Transfusion Program was implemented to improve the survival rate of bleeding patients. PBCFR is one of the few agencies nationwide capable of delivering this advanced level of service. Research shows two critical actions can improve the survival odds of a bleeding trauma patient: first, stop the bleeding; second, replace lost blood. Based on the latest medical research, PBCFR includes Tranexamic Acid and calcium chloride in the protocol, which helps decrease mortality in traumatic incidents. The Medical Services team has shared whole blood transfusion best practices nationwide.
PBCFR’s Prehospital Whole Blood Transfusion Program exemplifies our unwavering commitment to providing the highest quality care to our community. This program empowers us to intervene swiftly, maximizing a trauma patient’s chance of survival.
