Community Services Department Assists Individuals Experiencing Homelessness to Receive Federal Stimulus Checks

Body

Community Services staff assist residents with their tax returns.

During the month of April, the Palm Beach County Community Services Department, in partnership with United Way of PBC, Legal Aid Society, Health Care District of PBC, The Lord’s Place, Church Without Walls, A Different Shade of Love, St. Ann Place, St. George Episcopal Church, St. Matthews Church and the Health Council of Southeast Florida, held an event to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The goal of the event was to help with tax returns and  position them to receive their stimulus checks.

Other services provided during this event included vaccinations against COVID-19, assistance with obtaining identification, food, showers, haircuts and laundry cleaning.

Once the stimulus checks arrive, homeless individuals will be encouraged to use their stimulus funds to help them transition into permanent housing opportunities.
