Starting in April 2020, a number of Florida farms and food distribution agencies began selling fresh, locally-grown produce directly to the public. These Direct-to-Consumer “drive-by" events were uniquely popular and they brought all of us closer to our Palm Beach County farmers and their amazing farming operations. Many of these Direct-to-Consumer operations were posted on the statewide Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association (FFVA) website: https://www.ffva.com/FFVA/_News_Center/Direct_to_consumer_sales.aspx
Given that the 2020 Spring/Summer crop season finished, this FFVA website is no longer being updated, but it still serves as a reminder of the dynamics of food distribution during the early months of our unfortunate Coronavirus situation.
As we move into the 2020 Winter vegetable crop season, if these Direct-to-Consumer events occur again, we will do our best to highlight these opportunities here.
As a reminder, listed below are the innovative farming operations (and food distribution agencies) that launched Direct-to-Consumer deliveries of fresh locally-grown vegetables and herbs, for the benefit of our Palm Beach County residents.
To everyone …. Thank you for supporting our local farmers.
