Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) in UF/IFAS Extension is dedicated to strengthening individuals, families, and communities across Florida through practical education and outreach. As part of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), , FCS connects university knowledge with real-world needs, helping people make informed decisions that improve everyday life.
UF/IFAS Extension FCS programs focus on areas that directly impact household and community well-being, including nutrition and health, financial literacy and money management, housing and homebuyer education, family relationships, and overall quality of life. Through workshops, classes, publications, and one-on-one support, FCS educators provide science-based information that is accessible, relevant, and responsive to local needs.
Working in partnership with county governments, community organizations, and residents, Family and Consumer Sciences help individuals build skills, confidence, and resilience.
