About Legislative Affairs
The Legislative Affairs Division is part of Palm Beach County’s Department of Intergovernmental Affairs and Community Engagement. Our mission is to advance the priorities of the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners (PBC BCC) at the state and federal levels, ensuring that the needs of Palm Beach County residents are effectively represented in policy and funding decisions.
Each year, the PBC BCC adopts a comprehensive legislative state and federal agenda that outlines the County’s top policy initiatives and appropriations requests across a wide range of issue areas including infrastructure, transportation, housing, public safety, environmental protection, community services, and government operations. The Legislative Affairs team advocates for these priorities before Congress, federal agencies, the Florida Legislature, state agencies, and various executive branches of government.
We serve as the County’s primary liaison to Palm Beach County’s congressional delegation, state lawmakers, and legislative staff, facilitating open communication and collaboration between elected officials, County administration, and more than 20 County departments. Through strategic advocacy and relationship building, we work to secure funding, influence legislation, and protect home rule authority so that Palm Beach County can continue to thrive.
In addition to direct lobbying efforts, the Legislative Affairs Division monitors legislative developments year-round, provides policy analysis to the PBC BCC and County staff, and coordinates with partner organizations, municipalities, and regional coalitions to advance shared priorities.
