The  Palm Beach County Fire Code states that all public displays of fireworks (NFPA 1123), Flame Effects (NFPA 160) and Pyrotechnics Before a Proximate Audience (NFPA 1126) are required to be approved by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Bureau of Safety Services.

To receive approval for a firework display, the fireworks display company must complete the application and provide specific information regarding the display, including but not limited to:

  • The exact location of the display,

  • the number, type, and size of the fireworks that will be displayed,

  • the name(s) and qualifications of the individual(s) performing the display

  • proof of a liability insurance policy in the amount determined by the Fire Marshal, and

  • copy of license/permit from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).

  • A $500.00 application fee

To receive approval for a Flame Effect Permit the completed application along with a $300.00 application fee and specific information as stated on the application must be submitted.

To receive approval for Pyrotechnics Before a Proximate Audience Permit the completed application along with a $600.00 application fee and specific information as stated on the application must be submitted.

Once the display has been approved, an on-site inspection of the fireworks discharge site and fallout area will be conducted by a representative of the Fire Marshal's office.

If weather conditions are not favorable or it is determined by the Fire Marshal's office that the display has the potential of damaging property or endangering people, the fireworks, flame effect or pyrotechnic display will not be allowed.



Sky lanterns (by law considered fireworks) are illegal in the State of Florida.
