The Local Roads Section responsibilities vary greatly but focuses on lower volume local roads.

Road Projects

Prepares and reviews design documents for roadway widening projects, intersection projects, drainage design projects and studies on local roads, alignment and right-of-way studies on local roads, bridge widening and replacement projects on local roads. This section also oversees studies and designs for replacement of County maintained bridges over the Intracoastal waterway.

LRP – Local Road Program

Is responsible for managing the LRP – Local Road Program which is a new program currently being developed to provide Safety & Drainage Improvements to formerly classified Courtesy Maintained roads throughout Unincorporated Palm Beach County. The program is in the process of being developed.

MSTU - Municipal Service Taxing Unit

Is responsible for managing the MSTU Assessment Program which provides Paving & Drainage Improvements throughout Unincorporated Palm Beach County. The program is currently on hold for all projects except canal spraying maintenance projects and is undergoing an update of the governing Ordinance to current standards and methodology including a potential name change to Municipal Service Special Assessment (MSSA) program.

Railroads

Provides Railroad Coordination for all of unincorporated Palm Beach County and all County maintained roads passing over or through railroad right-of-ways. This includes, but is not limited to, crossing agreements and coordinating maintenance for those crossings associated with County roads and facilities.

Sidewalks

Prepares Cost and Feasibility Studies for potential sidewalks throughout the County as requested by the Traffic Division. Is responsible for the design of any sidewalks that are funded as requested by the Traffic Division. Will also provide design for the occasional multi-use pathway project.
