The Palm Beach County Youth Services Department's fifth annual Super Summer Spelling Bee and contestant Riley, a camper from Preparing Tomorrow's Leaders Today, Inc., will appear in an episode of Apple TV+'s new documentary series on Friday, November 13.

Oscar-winner Olivia Colman narrates “Becoming You," a global child development series that explores the first few years of life. Each episode offers a look at how children learn to think, speak and move from birth to age 5.

The episode focuses on language and highlights children who are about to hit certain developmental milestones. The storyline begins with a baby who is babbling, moving on through various milestones with different children around the world, culminating with the Youth Services Department's Super Summer Spelling Bee and contestant Riley.

“Our role as service providers in the development of a child should not be taken for granted," said Geeta Loach-Jacobson, Outreach and Community Programming director. “In our interaction with our children, we teach them the importance of language, learning, and about all the remarkable things that they can accomplish throughout the formative years."

Palm Beach County Youth Services, through the Summer Camp Scholarship Program and annual Super Summer Spelling Bee, strives to provide a safe, interactive environment and to cultivate learning and celebration.

The Super Summer Spelling Bee featured in the documentary took place in July 2019 in West Palm Beach at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County Florence De George Club. More than 300 students in the Palm Beach County Youth Services Summer Camp Scholarship Program participated. The spelling bee provides academic activities to encourage the spirit of learning while preventing summer slide.

Wall to Wall Productions, a subsidiary of Warner Bros TV Production Service Ltd (WBTVPSL) produced the series. The three-part documentary will premiere exclusively on Apple TV+.
