YSD Celebrates Literacy with "Read for the Record"!

Body

Every year, people come together across classrooms, libraries, community centers, and homes throughout the United States for Read for the Record, a national campaign launched 19 years ago. This inspiring initiative was created to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.

Here in Palm Beach County, Youth Services Department's Director and Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County board member Elisa Cramer participated in this impactful event. Hosted by the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, this year's Read for the Record book was Piper Chen Sings!, a delightful story chosen to inspire young readers and reinforce the joy of literacy.

The event sparked engagement across Palm Beach County schools, where community members shared their time to read with children, creating an experience that fosters a love for reading and learning.
