On November 5, 2024, County Commissioner Gregg Weiss presented a proclamation declaring November 2024 as Children & Teens Grief Awareness Month in Palm Beach County.
Childhood grief is a critical issue and an increasingly important national priority. Grief greatly increases a child’s vulnerability to poor school outcomes, including lower grades, dropout, skipping school, disengaged behavior at school and difficulties learning.
The death of a parent or family member forever changes the family dynamic, and there is a need for trauma-informed family resources and support. All of our services are FREE and are offered from a trauma-informed lens which means we are aware of how trauma can affect us and we take the necessary steps to prevent re-traumatization.
