PBCWUD Launches Wakodahatchee Livestream Cameras & Naming Contest for World Wetlands Day

Body

This World Wetlands Day, Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department (PBCWUD) invites you to stop and take a moment to enjoy the natural beauty of the Wakodahatchee Wetlands. In celebration of this globally recognized holiday on February 2, 2022, PBCWUD is proud to announce the launch of three nature cameras at the Wakodahatchee Wetlands Park in Delray Beach.

These cameras allow for the beauty of our local wetlands to be enjoyed by anyone, anywhere, and from any device while serving as an educational resource. In accordance with our mission to meet the highest standards of environmental stewardship, all equipment for the livestream has been strategically placed at a safe distance to wildlife.

PBCWUD is seeking the public’s assistance in naming these new cameras. Submissions must be an original name, family-friendly, and cannot include anyone famous or brand names. Three winners will have their names featured online and receive a gift basket.

In addition, PBCWUD is providing educational resources for students as part of our focus to raise awareness of the importance of wetlands in our community. To view the new cameras or download the educational workbooks, visit our wetlands page.
