Staff from the Palm Beach County Building Division gave a presentation June 1st to over 50 local realtors, lenders, and industry professionals about required milestone inspections for condominiums 3 stories and taller during a meeting at the Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® Association office in Palm Beach Gardens.

Building Division Coordinator/Interim Assistant Deputy of Inspections Michael Gauger explained recent changes to the 2022 Tall Condo law adopted during the spring legislative session. Senate Bill 154 (SB-154) addressed concerns that emerged as condominium associations started to carry out the law enacted last year.

SB-154 clarifies issues regarding milestone inspection requirements, timelines and authorizes local jurisdictions to extend the deadline for these inspections if engineers and architects cannot complete reports on time, due to high demand for their services.

Palm Beach Regional Board Member Kelley Rea-Murphy remarked that the discussion was very informative, “Mike’s presentation on the tall condo law changes was wonderful. He answered all questions and knowing these requirements helps real estate agents assist condo buyers and sellers.”

There are more than 700 condo and cooperative buildings in unincorporated Palm Beach County that are affected by the law.
