BUILDING DIVISION HOSTS OVER 80 LOCAL INSPECTORS AND PLANS EXAMINERS FOR POST DISASTER ASSESSMENT TRAINING

Body

In preparation for the upcoming hurricane season, inspectors and plans examiners from the Building Division participated in the “When Disaster Strikes” training course on May 15 and 16 at the Vista Center.

The instructor was William Braken, a world-renowned structural and forensic engineer on behalf of the International Code Council, the course sponsor.  Employees from other county departments and various municipalities were also in attendance.

The training is part of a certification process that pre-qualifies individuals to assist in post-disaster building safety evaluations required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
