PZB Staff Tour PB Aggregates

Planning, Zoning and Building Dept. staff recently had an opportunity to tour the Palm Beach Aggregates, LLC (PBA) operations located in western Palm Beach County on Southern Boulevard in Loxahatchee. This multifaceted company is located on 3,000 acres with commercial operations primarily in construction aggregates with an end-use plan to convert much of the land into a needed water supply benefitting the area and local ecology.

Staff was provided with an informative briefing by Ernie Cox, a PBA project manager followed by a terrific tour of the mining operations and a number of freshwater storage reservoirs. Joseph Verdone, a senior government consultant with Carlton Fields, was also on-hand to provide further insight to the operations. The reservoirs are converted mining areas designed to store freshwater to assist with flood control, Everglades restoration, and more.
