On May 5, 2023, County Administrator Verdenia Baker held a COVID-19 Response Awards Recognition event at the Vista Center. A number of PZB team members were recognized for their outstanding service to the residents of Palm Beach County during the pandemic.
Ms. Baker expressed her gratitude and appreciation for all the hard work during such a challenging and difficult time.

Building Division: ePZB Electronic Plan Review
The ePR system is an electronic permitting process developed by the Building Division and ISS allowing customers to apply and receive permits online. This 8 year phased project was accelerated due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. During this time at the height of the pandemic when most businesses were closed, the Building Division offered over 34 permit types online. As a result, over 60,000 applications and permits were conducted online preventing unnecessary trips to the office reducing the potential for the spread of COVID-19.

Planning Division:
Community Staging Area (CSA) /EOC Staffing
The Planning Division had a number of employees performing EOC related tasks during the pandemic – all while successfully maintain regulator Planning Division responsibilities. Five individuals oversaw CSA functions such as serving as supervisors, project managers, coordinating various future land amendments, and public hearings among other tasks. This was a tremendous undertaking by the division staff, which was done effortlessly without any decrease in work.
