The Building Officials of Palm Beach County (BOAPBC) held its 2024 Annual Joint Association Luncheon on Thursday, August 15, at the Lake Worth Casino Ballroom with over 100 industry stakeholders and community leaders in attendance.
The event theme “Building a Better Future Together" highlighted the importance of collaboration with respect to building safety. Speakers included a number of county leaders including Commissioner Mack Bernard, Administrator Verdenia Baker, Planning Zoning and Building Department Director Whitney Carroll, County Fire Marshal Dave Derita, Building Code Advisory Board member Frank Coppola Jr., and Building Official Doug Wise.
The event also featured presentations from Kelly Smallridge, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, Dottie Mazzarella from the International Code Council, Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks, Anne Russo from the Building Officials Association of Florida and Michelle DePotter, C.E.O of the Associated General Contractors, Florida East Coast Chapter.
The highlight of the event was BOAPBC's scholarship award presentation to Elijah Faustin of Delray Beach and a recent graduate of Boca Raton Community High School. Elijah, whose stellar academic record includes a 4.625 GPA, plans on attending Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
BOAPBC is a Florida not-for-profit corporation comprised of building officials, inspectors, plans examiners, architects, engineers, contractors, industry members and others mutually interested in the promotion and enhancement of public safety, through diligent and consistent enforcement of applicable construction codes and regulations throughout Palm Beach County, Florida. BOAPBC has been the local Chapter of the Building Officials Association of Florida since 1974 and the local Chapter of the International Code Congress since 2001.
