On May 9, 2025, PZB’s Contractor Regulations representative Mark Brown participated in the Annual Hard Hats & Suits Construction Conference hosted by the county’s Office of Equal Business Opportunity.
This event hosted over 20 construction companies providing an opportunity to engage representatives from various county agencies, fostering networking and dialogue regarding the challenges currently facing the construction industry.
A notable point of discussion was gratitude by several licensed contractors for Contractor Regulations efforts to identify and address the issue of unlicensed contractors. These unlicensed contractors typically underbid for projects, while lacking the necessary general liability, bond, and workers' compensation insurance, which raised concerns among industry professionals.
Commissioner Bobby Powell Jr. was also in attendance providing opening remarks.
The event also featured other departments including Facilities, Airports, Engineering, Water Utilities, and Environmental Resource Management.
