Building Division Participates in Alliance of Delray Residential Associations Meeting

Body

On October 2, 2024, staff from the Palm Beach County Planning, Zoning, and Building Department's Building Division attended the monthly meeting of the Alliance of Delray Residential Associations at the South County Civic Center in Delray Beach. The event drew several hundred residents, who engaged in discussions on a range of important topics, including affordable housing, the My Safe Florida Home Program, updated FEMA flood zones, and recent state legislative issues.

Certified Floodplain Managers Jacquelyn Anderson and Ciara Meyer from the Building Division were on hand to assist residents in determining their flood zones and other related information.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) recently updated flood zone maps, which place thousands of additional residents in high-risk areas known as Special Flood Hazard Areas, particularly in the eastern part of the county. These new maps are set to take effect on December 20, 2024, and require the immediate attention of affected property owners.

To find your flood zone, click here or visit pbc.gov/pzb and select “New FEMA Flood Maps." Please note that all Palm Beach County residents live in a flood zone and are strongly encouraged to obtain flood insurance.

For questions regarding flood zones in unincorporated Palm Beach County, you can email FloodZone@pbcgov.org, call the Flood Zone Hotline at 561-233-5374, or visit FEMA's Flood Maps.
