Archeologist Christian Davenport with the Planning, Zoning and Building Department's Planning Division recently attended a meeting of the Lake Worth Lagoon Initiative (LWLI) at the Manatee Lagoon, an FPL Eco-Discovery Center located in West Palm Beach.

LWLI is a multiagency stakeholder group that was organized to heighten awareness of Lake Worth Lagoon and coordinate activities to protect and enhance this valuable natural system.

Davenport kicked-off the meeting with a presentation on the archeological history of Lake Worth Lagoon providing the in depth history of the Lagoon and its watershed.

Other presentations were made on a number of related topics including the C-51 sediment trap, LAGOONFEST 2024, and the wildlife habitat.

The next meeting is scheduled for February 4, 2025 from 9: 00 am to 12:00 pm (location TBD).  For more information on the Lake Worth Lagoon Initiative, click here.
