Participate in the 2019 Family Health & Fitness Day Challenge at PBC Parks

Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department will participate in the 2019 Family Health & Fitness Day Challenge! At noon ET on June 8, NRPA challenges everyone to “Get Fit” With Parks and Recreation by doing a minute of jumping jacks (regular or modified) with family and/or friends at a local park or recreation center. Several of our facilities will be participating in the challenge and offering other activities to promote family health and fitness! Participants are encouraged to share photos and videos of the challenge online using #NRPAFamilyFitDay and #pbcparks.    ​

LIST OF EVENTS/PARTICIPATING LOCATIONS
1. CMAA Therapeutic Recreation Complex 
Open Swim from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, the pool is open to the public for swimming.
During this time, staff will provide ideas for getting fit in the water. *Pool admission required, call for pricing.
Therapeutic Recreation’s Para Swim Clinic from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm will be participating in the 2019 Family Health & Fitness Day Challenge for the program participants. *Pool admission required, call for pricing.

2. West Boynton Recreation Center
Free health and fitness activities, led by staff at 11:00 am in the gym, all ages welcome. Jumping Jack Challenge at noon. Participate in Free Open Gym from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.

3. Westgate Recreation Center
Free health and fitness activities, led by staff at 11:30 am in the gym, all ages welcome, featuring fitness ropes and exercise balls.  Jumping Jack Challenge at noon.

4. West Jupiter Recreation Center
Free health and fitness activities, led by staff at 11:30 am in the gym, all ages welcome, featuring fitness ropes and exercise balls. Jumping Jack Challenge at noon.
Open gym from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm (5yrs- 11yrs/family time), 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm (12yrs-15yrs), 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm (16 and up)

7. Green Cay Nature Center
Free Walking Tour at 10:00 am and 11:00 am to promote Family Fitness Day, open to all ages. Jumping Jack Challenge at noon.

8. Riverbend Park
Free Guided Walking Tour, two-mile walk at 10:00 am through the trails at Riverbend Park. Participants will walk at a moderate pace stopping along the way to observe and discuss the natural resources of the park.  Jumping Jack Challenge at noon.

9. Sports and Wellness at Glades Pioneer Park 
Sports and Wellness staff will host a free community event beginning at 11:00 am. Everyone is welcome to participate in health and wellness activities on the Orange Bowl field at Glades Pioneer Park.  Jumping Jack Challenge at noon.
