Description | Friends of Okeeheelee Nature Center (FONC) will host their 8th Annual Raptor Day for Nature Photographers on Saturday, January 21st 2023 from 8:30-10:00 a.m. at Okeeheelee Nature Center in Okeeheelee Park.
Several different species of birds of prey will be on display in a natural, outdoor setting. Every effort will be made to place the animals in optimal lighting with excellent backgrounds. After a short introduction of our resident rehabilitated birds and a briefing of rules, raptors will be put on natural perches and photographers are free to photograph at their own pace.
Tickets will be sold for $45 each for an hour and half session with ‘live’ birds. Friends of Okeeheelee Nature Center members can begin purchasing tickets on November 28, 2022; Non-members can begin purchasing on December 6th 2022 on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited. All proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the ambassador animals, exhibits and programs at Okeeheelee Nature Center and are tax deductible. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 561-564-8663. Please note, this event is not handicap-accessible. Participants must be at least 15 years of age. Minor participants (ages 15-17) must be accompanied by one adult guardian. Rain date: Saturday, January 28th 2023 at 8:30-10:00am.
