Project Status

February 5, 2021

  • Mobilization of construction equipment and pipe to Jupiter Beach Park is expected to begin by mid-February.​
  • The sand will be placed between Jupiter Beach Park and Carlin Park.
  • The active construction area will be closed to the public for safety reasons, but as the placement area moves down the beach access will be restored to the greatest extent possible.
  • Beach and ocean users are asked to avoid the pipeline on the beach. Sand ramps will be created to allow safe passage over the shore pipeline to access the water. ​

Project Description

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is performing maintenance dredging of the Intracoastal Waterway and Jupiter Inlet in partnership the Jupiter Inlet District and with the Florida Inland Navigation District.​
  • Approximately 210,000 cubic yards of sand will be placed by Corps contractors within the northern Jupiter/Carlin project area.

Project History​

In January 2020, approximately 1.05 miles of beach was nourished south of Jupiter Inlet to the southern boundary of Carlin Park.  Approximately 500,000 cubic yards of sand was pumped onshore by a trailing hopper dredge from a permitted offshore borrow area and shaped and graded with heavy construction equipment to form a natural beach slope.​
